For those of you still following my progress – or lack of it – of my swimming lessons, you may be wondering why the lengthy pause between blogs of lessons.
It’s because I wanted to demonstrate what always happens when I try to learn how to swim, life always gets in the way and stuff that is important goes by the wayside.
Despite the good efforts of the swim school and instructor Andrew, my business has meant that that I haven’t had time for the much needed practice in the pool going over the basics I learn at my lessons.
I did get one practice session in just before Christmas and it was great. I worked on kicking and by the end of half an hour of practice it was much better.
But then I had a week off and I spent most of it asleep and now I’m back into it.
This year I did make it as far as the poolside one time but the slow, learners lane was taken up by a class of delightful toddlers.
Lame excuse though because this effort with the Water Safety people is my last shot at it. It’s now or never in terms of me learning how to swim.
If I don’t get through this, then it’ll be tough to get through anything in life.
It may take a little longer than desirable, but I am determined to see it through this time.
And I’ll definitely be swimming by next summer. That’s a long time away so it’s plenty of time to nail this whole swimming thing.
My goal this week is to get in some practice time at the pool at the gym and then have another lesson and see if I can’t advance and make up for some of this lost time.
Better living everyone.
