Education Framework

The New Zealand Water Safety Education Framework is designed to facilitate a strategic approach to water safety education. It outlines a coordinated, consistent and coherent approach to providing national water safety education.

The Framework is intended to provide a broad foundation that any organisation working in the water safety sector, but particularly the Water Safety New Zealand (WSNZ) member organisations, can use to inform their research and develop their water safety education programmes, initiatives and campaigns.

The Framework outlines the vision, aims and guiding principles of a national water safety education strategy. It contains a matrix for the development of the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours that individuals need to be water safe competent when they participate in an aquatic activity.
