Water Safety Education Programmes

A number of organisations have developed water safety education teaching and learning programmes for schools. Each of the programmes has a different target audience and focus.

Some of the programmes are

  • skill development based like Learn to Swim and Survive
  • based on activities in a specific aquatic area like Sail Safe, RiverSafe, BeachEd, and include classroom activities and practical skill development
  • based on classroom activities and investigations of local aquatic areas such as AquaSafe
  • designed for use before an EOTC experience like Safe Boating, AquaSafe, RiverSafe.

Teachers need to review these programmes and select amongst them to develop a programme that meets the specific learning needs of their students.
